Hi Everyone, Thank you for checking out Pentwater Building Stories.
ABOUT THE PENTWATER BUILDING STORIES PROJECT
The PBS project launched May 2023 and was a great collaboration! The project included a group of 25 story panels featuring different aspects of Pentwater history. The panels were designed by illustrator Libby VanderPloeg and were displayed in store windows and inside shops and in community venues on Hancock Street. Hancock is the main street in the village of Pentwater, Michigan, incorporated in 1867. The stories were researched and written by website curator Pam VanderPloeg. The Pentwater History Map designed by Libby VanderPloeg was on display in Craze, Birch Michigan, and Green Issacs and is available from the Pentwater Historical Museum.
Project Coordinator was Elizabeth Russell, Pentwater Historical Society Trustee who spent countless hours finding grant funding to make it all happen. These entities provided grant funding for the design/printing of the story panels and the design and printing of Pentwater History Map. They are: Michigan Humanities Council, Pentwater Junior Women’s Council, Oceana Community Foundation, and the Great Lakes Energy People Fund.
A special thank you to the shop owners who made space for the story panels and to the residents, historians, and building owners who generously added their thoughts and knowledge of this wonderful historic village.
